The post-doctoral researcher will be part of the Centre of Excellence for Exascale in Solid Earth (ChEESE, www.cheese-coe.eu), a H2020 European Data Infrastructure supported by the European Union. ChEESE started on November 1st, 2018, for a duration of three years.
We invite interested researchers to apply for a 2.5 year postdoctoral position to work on extreme simulations of geophysical fluid dynamics. The project includes the implementation and testing of time-domain parallelization methods in existing state-of-the-art codes that simulate convection- driven quasi-geostrophic dynamics or dynamo action in spherical geometry. In addition to the implementation and testing of time-domain parallelization, the applicant will run simulations to address issues connected with the dynamics of zonal jets in turbulent quasi-geostrophic convection or polarity reversals in extreme simulations of the geodynamo.
We seek an individual with a strong background in applied mathematics, high performance computing and/or geophysical and astrophysical fluid dynamics. Solid experience in modern Fortran and/or C++ programming is mandatory. Experience with parallel programming is desirable.

The researcher will work primarily at IPGP in Paris, with the possibility of frequent travels and stays at ISTerre, Grenoble.
