Scanning electron microscopy (FEG/SEM) and focused ion beam (FIB)

The CAGE group operates two electron microscopes for the institute. A FEG (field emission) instrument for high resolution imaging up to 1,000,000x magnification, a high-current (SEM/EDX) instrument for quantitative chemical mapping at high magnification, and nanopatterning or TEM thin section preparation on a ion-beam source (FIB).
