The Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris is a "Grand Etablissement" of higher education and research controlled by an Executive Board. It is a member of the Universities and Institutions Community (COMUE) Université Sorbonne Paris Cité (USPC) and partnered with the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). It consists of approximately 150 high level researchers recruited worldwide, 170 engineers and administrators and more than 190 doctoral students. All the members of this team share the same passion for Earth and Planetary Sciences.
Cooperation agreements with a large number of renowned foreign institutions open avenues for research activities and exchange experiences all over the world.
The IPGP hosts powerful computational resources, the latest experimental facilities, and benefits from quality technical support. The flexible structure of the Institute facilitates the development of research teams in the most promising fields.
Particular attention is being paid to long-term observations of natural systems, which are crucial for their study and understanding.
The IPGP offers several Masters degrees and is responsible for a Doctoral school in close collaboration with the Université Paris-Diderot and the École Normale Supérieure. The Institute offers an advanced course in Geophysics Imagery in collaboration with the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris and several industrial partners (CGG Veritas, Schlumberger, Shell, Total).
